Good evening ladies and gentlemen.
It is my
honour
to be invited to attend the Miss Teen
Philippines Edmonton Pageant.
I am very happy that your organization
has chosen Edmonton to host this event,
and that I am able to be your guest
on this Grand Coronation Night.
I think it is important to salute the contributions of Edmonton’s Filipino
population, not only to this evening’s
festivities, but also to the daily
life of the city.
Your vibrant heritage and strong
cultural identity are major assets
to our Canadian family.
Events such as this, allow
us to appreciate one side of the Filipino
community. Canadians genuinely could
be proud to have a member of this
community representing our country
in the Miss Universe Pageant.
It is my hope that diversity and inclusiveness
become better and better known as
Canada’s brand throughout the world.
It is encouraging to see that
such intelligent and charming Pilipinas
wish to represent Canada, and prove
to the world that Canada is a country
that embraces many different cultures.
It is your generation that
will be leading our nation, and our
world, as we step further into the
21st century.
Let harmony and peace be the
legacy that you leave behind.
I wish all contestants the best of luck, and want them to know that they
are a credit to their culture.
As Member of Parliament for
Edmonton Southeast, it is very heartening
to see such excellent representatives
of our community.
I know that the lady chosen
as Edmonton’s envoy to the Binibining
Pilipinas in Toronto will make her
city proud.
