Greetings
to Multi-Faith Blessing
Ceremony
Remarks by David Kilgour, M.P.
Secretary of State (Latin
America and Africa)
Edmonton Multi-Faith Blessing
Ceremony
Northlands Agricom, Edmonton
August 1, 1998
On behalf of the government
of Canada, it is a great
pleasure to help open this
multi-faith ceremony. I
understand this is the largest
interfaith blessing ceremony
ever held in Canada.
Robert Mueller, a former
United Nations Under Secretary,
believes that it is the
different faith communities
of the world which offer
the best hope of achieving
world peace and harmony.
What we are doing today
demonstrates, of course,
how much all our 21 faith
communities represented
here have in common. We
all care.
Misunderstanding among
religions has caused
and continues to cause
much grief. We here are
acting to end misunderstandings.
I salute True Buddha School
and 20 other faith communities
for doing in our city what
should also be done around
the world.
How can the peoples of
the world and Canada, who
worship the same God, not
care deeply for each other?
That, I believe, is why
Mueller is right.
I'm sure God will bless
what you are doing today.
As Master Lin Ho says, "We
are many feathers. We are
one in the unity of Love."
Thank you.
