Kilgour Reflects on the Life and Passing of
Lois Hole
January 11, 2005
Hon. David Kilgour, Member of
Parliament for Edmonton – Mill Woods –
Beaumont, issued the following statement on
the passing of Lieutenant Governor Lois
Hole:
Known as the ‘Queen of Hugs,’
Lois Hole was always able to ensure that the
official office of Lieutenant Governor
remained close to the hearts of Albertans.
The tributes that have poured in during the
last few days from across the province are a
sign of how loved and respected she was.
Her grace and simplicity complemented her
intelligence and wisdom.
“If I can help people to
understand the enormous educational resource
each citizen represents, if I can help the
parents of today realize the dream of a
better life for the children of tomorrow, I
feel I will have done my job as Lieutenant
Governor.” These words reflect the
achievements Lois Hole herself wished to
accomplish during her tenure as our
province’s Lieutenant Governor. This is now
her legacy to Albertans and Canadians. We
will all miss her deeply.
