On January 26, 2009, Chinese new year day for the year of the Ox, CBC Radio One's early edition broadcasted its host Rick Cluff's interview with the top Chinese human rights activist Wei Jingsheng as the kick off of the Chinese New Year, as well as on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Democracy Wall. In his interview, Mr. Wei talked about his work during the Democracy Wall period, as well as his life followed in prison. Near the end, Mr. Wei also gave a forecast of China's future ahead.
