(PRLog.Org)Jan 28, 2008 – Coalition for Constitutional Reforms (CCR-Kenya) has called for the establishment of a provisional interim government in Kenya, whose main aim is to re-establish law and order, spearhead constitutional reforms and fresh elections.

In statement, the reform group said, "In view of the obvious power vacuum in Nairobi amidst the ongoing ethnic murders, it is imperative that an interim government be set up in Kenya immediately."

An International Peace-Keeping force should be set up

The reform group has called on the international community to rush in and save Kenyans, warning that the signs of imminent genocide are all there.

"The first and most primary task of any government is to protect the lives of all citizens under its jurisdiction There can be no excuse for the murder of Kenyans to continue unless the government is either implicitly involved or lacks the will or capacity or both, to protect lives of citizens."

The negotiations should continue, but the murder of innocent Kenyans must be stopped immediately. Thus, Kenyans from all sectors, ethnicities, political persuasion etc should all speak with one voice, and work out modalities for setting up an interim government without further delay. The African Union should lead the way in sending a peacekeeping force to Kenya.

CCR-Kenya brings together organizations and individuals who believe that for Kenya to truly attain genuine democratic liberation, comprehensive constitutional reforms must be completed before any elections. Formed in March 2006, the coalition works to raise awareness to bring pressure on the ruling class to allow Kenyans to reform the constitution before another election. Under the banner "No Reforms, No Elections", CCR-Kenya and affiliate organizations boycotted the 2007 general elections to highlight the danger of holding elections under the current constitution.
