FLUSHING, New York City - Alongside requests from residents to remove council member John Liu and assemblywoman Ellen Young from office, complaints are being filed against New York Chinese Consul General Peng Keyu.

The complaints against Keyu were filed to the U.S. Department of Justice on Aug. 7 due to his allegedly conspiring in violent attacks that had taken place in Flushing. During an investigative conversation done by the World Organization to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong on May 23, Keyu is recorded admitting that he, "encouraged secretly" those who were involved in a group that attacked Falun Gong practitioners.

Criminal Attorney Robert Gottlied commented on the allegations. "There’s indisputable proof that the consul general [Peng Keyu] was actively involved in inciting and organizing people to violate the criminal law," said Gottlied.

"There’s no question that he conspired to have peaceful individuals assaulted," said Gottlied. "He is not entitled to remain in this country. There is no view of diplomatic duties that include conspiring of people to violate the civil rights of protestors."

Among those who filed the complaint were several victims of the attacks which specifically targeted Falun Gong practitioners and volunteers at a booth on Main Street, Flushing to help Chinese withdraw from the communist party.

In a translation of the recorded conversation, the New York Chinese Consul General, Peng Keyu said that a few hundred people were ordered to surround and start an argument with volunteers at a booth to help Chinese quit the Chinese Communist Party set up in Flushing.

Keyu mentioned that he had to meet with the groups discretely. "I went there the day before yesterday, and also three days ago," said Keyu. "I usually park my car far from the scene because I must avoid being seen."

Attacks against practitioners of Falun Gong, a Chinese meditation practice based on Truthfulness, Compassion, and Tolerance, began on May 17 near the Queens Library in Flushing. The attacks continued for close to two months yet became less frequent as police presence in the area increased.

Gordon Chang, China expert and author of The Coming Collapse of China, says this type of influence and intimidation is a direct attempt to restrict freedom of speech in America.

"The Chinese government has been systematically using Chinese nationals present in the United States to influence debate in this country," said Chang. "It is bad enough that the Communist Party runs an abhorrent political system in China. It is unacceptable that it is interfering in ours."

During the attacks, many Chinese media controlled by the CCP altered images and information, claiming that the Falun Gong practitioners had disrupted donations from reaching the victims of the Sichuan earthquake. Using footage of the groups who had come and attacked the Falun Gong practitioners, the he fabricated reports were broadcasted throughout Mainland China as well as through Chinese communities in the U.S. In the recorded discussion, Keyu also allegedly admits to having guided those media to report on the incident in Flushing.
