Those Who Cannot Remember the Past
Are Condemned to Repeat It
- Wei Jingsheng Foundation's Video Compares Photos of Tibet 2008 with Tiananmen 1989
Wei Jingsheng Foundation
April 5, 2008

On this day of April 5, Chinese Memorial Day, we are mourning the Tibetans massacred this year, as well as over a million of the Tibetans killed by the Chinese Communist government over the years.

Also on this Chinese Memorial Day, we are still mourning the Chinese students and citizens killed in Beijing in 1989, over 80 millions of Chinese have perished under the Chinese Communist rule.

The violence visited upon the Tibetan people in the recent crackdowns is heartbreaking. As the photos were coming in the remarkable similarity to the crackdown on student demonstrators of Tiananmen Square in 1989 was shocking.

This video, titled "Look Familiar?" reminds us that although the Beijing regime tries to project a more modern and less threatening image, the ruling Chinese Communist Party is still the same party that ruthlessly slaughtered its own youth and citizens in 1989.

The video shows pictures from what has been going on in the last month in Tibet and the surrounding area and pairs them with photos from 1989 democracy movement.

Judge for yourself...
