Approximate a thousand of supporters gathered near her home in Rangoon on May 27, 2007 during the occasion of 17th Anniversary of 1990 elections. Thereafter, they marched to the most famous pagoda – Shwedagon. However, a large number of pro-military people blocked the proceeding and tried to instigate violence.  In order to avoid confrontation and violience, Pro-democracy activists turned back to the National League for Democracy (HQ) and continued to hold a gathering, shouting “Free Aung San Suu Kyi” slogan.
